    COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Reaching every corner of the communities we serve
  • RECare
  • LIHEAP

RECare is a voluntary energy assistance program that offers funds to local families who need assistance with their heating bills. Your contribution can help one of these local families!

You may make a one-time contribution, or you may make a monthly pledge. If you choose to make a monthly pledge, we can set it up as part of your energy bill. Even a dollar a month pledge or contribution of any amount will help others!

Who Receives Assistance?

  • Contributions are distributed locally in our service area.

How Do You Sign Up?

  • Download the RECare Contribution Form.

Please return to our office by fax 1-844-605-1882, mail it in or bring it in to our office.

For more information about this program call us at 641-932-7126 or 800-475-1702.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program designed to assist qualifying low-income Iowa households in the payment of a portion of their residential heating costs for the winter heating season. It also is designed to encourage regular utility payments, promote energy awareness and encourage reduction of energy usage through energy efficiency, client education and weatherization.

This program is not designed to pay a household’s total energy costs. The program will provide supplemental assistance based on several factors. Those factors include total household income, household size, dwelling type, and type of heating fuel, among others.

Eligibility

Owner-occupied and renter-occupied households are eligible to apply and must meet both financial and non-financial criteria to be program-eligible. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting October 1 for households with members at least 60 years of age or disabled. All other households may apply beginning November 1. Applications are accepted through April 30.

You may be eligible if:

  • Your household income is 200% or below the Office of Management and Budget’s federal poverty guidelines

  • Your household has an energy burden

  • You can verify citizenship status for all household members
