Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative Awards Grant Through Operation Round Up®
Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) is proud to announce that the Centerville Volunteer Firefighters Association has been awarded a $4,900 grant through its first-quarter 2026 Operation Round Up program. The funds will be used to purchase five sets of wildland protective gear, enhancing the safety and effectiveness of firefighters responding to grass, brush and rural wildland fires across the area.
This grant will help ensure firefighters have the proper protective gear needed to safely respond to emergencies, protect property and serve their community with confidence. It’s another example of how CVEC’s Operation Round Up program provides meaningful support to local organizations making a difference every day.
Empowering Our Community
Operation Round Up exemplifies the cooperative spirit – turning small acts of generosity into lasting impact. Through this program, CVEC members voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar, with the extra change pooled together to fund grants for local organizations and service projects.
“Programs like Operation Round Up show the power of community,” said Anna See, CVEC Communications Coordinator/Executive Assistant. “When our members come together, even small contributions add up to real support for local first responders and organizations that keep our communities strong and safe.”
Since its inception, Operation Round Up has supported everything from emergency services and food banks to youth programs and community improvements. To date, the program has awarded $135,099.11 to 39 organizations across the CVEC service area. It’s a reminder that when we come together - even in small ways - we can create lasting change.
