Troy Amoss Named General Manager of Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. is proud to welcome Troy Amoss as its new general manager following the departure of Leilani Todd earlier this year. Amoss will be responsible for leading and managing the cooperative’s 25 employees and 6,000-plus member accounts, as well as working with the Board of Directors to establish the strategic direction and operative policies of the cooperative.

Amoss’ career in the co-op industry spans over 20 years, beginning in the late 1980s when he was hired as a summer intern at CVEC. “The cooperative way of life has been his life since he was a teenager hired as part of the “brush” crew for his hometown co-op. Since then, he has worked his way up through the ranks — he’s down to earth, and he’s someone we can all talk to,” said Board President Mike Miller.

Amoss was hired at Ozark Boarder Electric Cooperative (OBEC) as a journeyman lineman in 2006. In 2016, Troy was promoted to a staff position within OBEC as a supervisor, overseeing the operations of the Puxico and Malden, Missouri service area. He was promoted again in 2018 to operations manager for OBEC. In July 2020, Amoss returned to his hometown of Albia and joined CVEC’s cooperative family again as a journeyman lineman. He was promoted to manager of operations in the fall of 2021.

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity to lead Chariton Valley Electric. My goal is to continue building on the cooperative’s strong foundation and roots from the past 75 years.” Amoss said. “For me, that all starts and ends with delivering the most reliable, affordable electricity possible and being accountable to the families and businesses we serve.”

In his role as CVEC’s manager of operations, Troy has become familiar with all departments within the cooperative and has a great working relationship with the employees.  “Being a part of CVEC over the years, I have always been impressed with and respected the work the board and employees do. The quality of talent here is incredible,” Amoss said.

Amoss and his wife, Lori, live in rural Albia and have three sons, Brock – 27, Shay – 20 and Trell – 17.

“Due to Troy’s leadership, the future for CVEC is well-positioned with great employees and a well-maintained and reliable system,” said Board President Mike Miller. “Troy has served with absolute loyalty, working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for our members and we’re excited for the future as we begin the next chapter in leadership at Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative.”
